This conversation takes place in a Viennese pub during a party for exchange students at the beginning of the semester. Some students have already met before, some of them meet for the first time. They talk about their experience in Vienna so far, about different places and place names, about accommodation, and meeting people. They also talk about their home countries and peculiarities of their respective languages. They collect money to buy drinks, exchange phone numbers and look at the German expressions on their mobile phones. They talk about leisure activities like visiting restaurants and going skiing. Frequently, the group of speakers splits up and there are several conversational threads, of which generally only the most intelligible thread is transcribed. As the event was recorded in a pub, there is constant background noise (music, many people talking at the same time).
