acdh:hasDescription
This business meeting is held on the occasion of a sales visit. S2 is a sales representative of the airline [org2] and he has come to visit the forwarding agency [org5], where the meeting is held. [Org5] is a daughter company of org1. S1, S3, S6, S7, S8 and S9 are all employees of the forwarding agency and thus colleagues and very well acquainted. S1 is the head of the team and functions as chair person throughout the meeting. S4 is the researcher and does not take part in the interaction. Different members of the team join the meeting at different times. Only S1, the chair person, and S2, the sales representative, are present throughout the whole meeting. The first portion of the meeting involves S1, S2 and S3. They engage in small talk for about 10 minutes before they actually start talking business. Then they talk about business matters for about 30 minutes and afterwards turn to a couple of minutes of small talk again before S3 leaves. S6 joins S1 and S2 after a few minutes and the next round of business talk starts. Compared to S1 and S2, S6 is not very active in the conversation and there are rather long portions where only S1 and S2 interact even though S6 is also present. A while later S7 joins the group, also at first as a silent participant, but then the meeting turns to his area of responsibility and he joins in. A while later the same happens again as S8 and S9 join the group and first remain silent in the background. Then all speakers get up to help themselves to their lunch, which they have in the conference room. The meeting continues during lunch and switches between business matters and occasional small talk. Almost all of the anonymized items represented as [orgx] refer to either airlines or forwarding companies.
