ARCHE provides several interfaces to search and retrieve its data in programmatic ways.
ARCHE APIs are built using microservices. It means the ARCHE core service provides only a basic functionality for creating, reading, updating, and deleting (CRUD) while all other features (e.g. OAI-PMH) are handled by separate small services (called dissemination services) built on top of the core API.
This agreement is between the organisation or person(s) authorised to transfer and deposit digital resources (hereinafter ‘the Depositor’) and ARCHE – A Resource Centre for Humanities (hereinafter ‘the Repository’), which is run and represented by the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The agreement concerns transfer, curation, archival, and dissemination of electronic resources described in the section ‘Description of Material’.
The Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage (ACDH-CH) at the Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften (ÖAW) operates ARCHE. This document informs about ACDH-CH policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information received from users of ARCHE.
ARCHE (A Resource Centre for the HumanitiEs) is a service that offers stable and persistent hosting as well as the dissemination of digital research data and resources for the Austrian humanities community. ARCHE welcomes data from all humanities fields.
If you have resources, would like to share them, and want to make sure that the data will be around in the future, contact us. We offer both archiving and online availability for your resources. If needed, we will assist you in converting data and metadata into required formats.

The following terms and conditions apply to the use of resources and services provided by ARCHE - A Resource Centre for Humanities (henceforth ‘the Repository’) on the website https://arche.acdh.oeaw.ac.at/browser/ which is run and represented by the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ACDH-CH).
ARCHE’s underlying system, initially based on the open-source repository software Fedora Commons version 4, has been completely reworked in 2020. It is now based on a bespoke software stack. All data, stable identifiers (PIDs), and functionality both of the user interface and the APIs exposing data to external applications of the original application were preserved.
