info VICAV is an international endeavour aiming at the collection of digital language resources documenting varieties of spoken Arabic. While in principle being open to any type of text, we currently focus on bibliographical data, on so-called language profiles, standardised feature lists and lexical data.
VICAV has a strong methodological component focusing on the development of digital data and tools. A large part of these efforts is concentrated on modelling data and providing documentation for developmental and pedagogical purposes. VICAV is strongly committed to the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI). We provide a detailed documentation of our lexical data.
VICAV has been started as a co-operation between the Department of Oriental Studies of the University of Vienna and the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ACDH-OeAW). The institutional frame of the project is defined by a repository for digital research data, a University and a national Academy, all of which is meant to ensure long-term availability of both data and the web-interface.
