This question-answer session is part of a symposium on the development of financial markets in Central and Eastern European countries. The session focuses particularly on the Maastricht criteria and the European Monetary Union (EMU) as a common currency area. There is a chairperson (S1) who directs the discussion, and two panellists (S3 and S4), who are representatives from Slovakia and the Czech Republic. There are questions from the audience which are answered by the two panellists. The participants are generally not acquainted with each and have only met on the same day or at this session.
